Portrait Isaac Perlmutter (1866-1932) Hst – H38 x L38
Hungarian painter, from the school of Paris, Isaac Perlmutter (1866-1932), studied in Hungary then in France at the famous Julian Academy (aka Met de Penninghen, like me for that matter) -
This very famous private course was the most daring in terms of teaching, he was the only one at the time to open these doors to female artists -
These paintings are characterized nt by a deep respect for human dignity –
Perlmutter received gold medals in Budapest/Munich, silver medals in Brussels, St. Louis, and several of his paintings, including his self-portrait in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, have been acquired by art museums in Hungary and Italy.
He bequeathed thirteen of his paintings to the Jewish community of Pest, four of which are on permanent display at the National Jewish Museum in Budapest.
The school of Paris for these Jewish painters after the first war, is characterized by a loss of religion, a strong political commitment; thus there were more than 500 to show solidarity, to help each other and for some to volunteer for the war.. -
The importance of the line seduces me in this canvas - The apparent unfinished producing a life, a movement of an incredible presence in this bust portrait -
Good general condition, apart from scratches at the bottom of it - Oil on canvas laminated on cardboard - Sold as is
