"Seated Woman Signed Antoine Ferrari"
Antoine Ferrari and his twin sister Mireille were born in Marseille on February 1, 1910 and died in 1995. His family lives at 3, boulevard Salvator. He painted his first paintings in 1926. He moved to Paris in 1927 and frequented the painters of Montparnasse. Encouraged by Kees van Dongen, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne that year. In 1930, he received a grant from the City of Marseille allowing him to take courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He won the Stanislas Torrents prize in 1932. He met the painters Pierre Ambrogiani and Antoine Serra who would remain his friends throughout his life. He married in 1934 with Blanche, who remained his most ardent defender all his life. He won the Claverie prize in 1936 and the Abd-el-Tif prize in 1937; he will remain a resident of the villa Abd-el-Tif in Algeria beyond the two years of accommodation granted by this prize. Antoine Ferrari worked closely with André Maurice who exhibited him regularly in his gallery from 1948 to 1950. He exhibited at the Da Silva gallery in 1950 and won the Ricard Foundation prize in 1951. He exhibited at the Galibert then Merenciano gallery in 1953 and 1954. From 1955 to 1968, Ferrari was divided between Paris and Marseille, where he returned definitively in 1968, living on the Estienne d'Orves (currently 6, Cours Jean Ballard). This year of intense creation made him paint many landscapes. He exhibited at the Vieille Charité in 1975, where 160 major works were exhibited. Between 1989 and 1995, Ferrari gradually withdrew, producing only rare works. Dimensions with frame Height 107 cm Width 79 cm
