Important Fireplace Clock, "les Porteurs Mauriciens Au Ballot"
Important fireplace clock, "Les porteurs mauriciens au ballot", in gilded and patinated bronze with enamel dial signed "Autray a Paris".
Measures 43x35.5x11.5 cm.
The clock has a quadrangular base and decorated on the front with relief friezes. Two black porters are engaged in carrying a large bale of cotton on which sits a chained monkey holding two drumsticks. A precious finely chiseled net descends from the sedan chair, under which the pendulum decorated open always with a figure of a small monkey emerges.
