Object description :

"Jean-françois Hache, A Louis XV Secretaire Stamped, Hache Fils In Grenoble 18th Century Circa 1775."
Small vertical secretary from the Louis XV period, in cherry wood covered in black and varnished. Rectangular in shape with a vertical structure, its front uprights are rounded and flat, punctuated by small arched feet with pellets; the hindquarters are in silhouette. The sides are smooth with mirror effects, at the bridge base in line with the facade. The bowl-shaped floor top is topped with jet black marble from the Dauphiné de la Mûre quarries. Our secretary opens at the top with a flap forming a tray. This tray folds down to be blocked horizontally thanks to two fittings to form a writing desk. In order to increase writing comfort, the desk side is lined with its old morocco gilded with small irons. The interior is made of fir castin from Dauphiné also rechampi. This is compartmentalized with nine layettes in four rows. Six superimposed drawers slide on the three lower rows, a compartment centers those of the middle row, slightly larger. The upper row of the cabinet is divided into two layettes. The top and the central base of the castin form two independent compartments. A secret compartment with double sliding side shelves, where two drawers slide, is concealed under the castin. The lower part called a wardrobe opens with two leaves onto a two-level locker, divided into four compartments. Like castin, the top of it forms an independent compartment. The stamp "Hache fils à Grenoble" used by Jean François Hache from 1730 to 1796 is stamped on the edge of one of the drawers on the right of the castin. Beautiful ornamentation of bronzes, such as clogs, keyholes and lenses accentuate the contrast. Latch, locks and working original fittings are present. Work by Jean François Hache around 1775, Louis XV period. Dimensions: Height: 123cm, Depth: 43.7cm, Width: 101cm.
