Small Buddha head with excavation patina. The face, imbued with great serenity, is characterized by eyebrows with a finely worked curvature in slight relief meeting above a flat nose. The almond-shaped eyes with wide half-open eyelids express a deep interiority. The full-lipped mouth outlines a pronounced smile, the earlobes distended, symbolizing the royal origin of the historic Buddha. The head is covered with small pimples, a thin headband delimiting the hair, the usnisa (cranial protuberance), evoking a bun at the beginning of the Buddhist era, is here surmounted by a high rasmi in the shape of a lotus bud.
