Artist: Paule Gobillard, Quimperlé 1869- Paris 1946
Paule Gobillard is Berthe Morisot's niece and pupil. After the latter's death, she moved to Paris with her sister Jeanine and her cousin Julie Manet, daughter of Berthe Morisot. His talents were encouraged by Renoir who was also his tutor and appreciated by Edgar Degas and Stéphane Mallarmé. She exhibited at the SAF from 1894 then regularly at the Salon d'Automne of which she was a member in 1906. The work is part of a set of studies, some annotated: Concert Salle Gaveau Provenance: Sale of the workshop. A lack in the lower left corner, workshop stamp on the reverse in the upper right.
