"Repousse Pocket Watch, Smith, 18th Century"
Fabulous English pocket watch "Repoussé" and verge escapement, signed Gabriel Smith. 18th century, circa 1758.Gabriel Smith was a watchmaker in Chester (1752-1797).
The watch is equipped with a Verge escapement with a chiselled and engraved gilded brass plate, silver adjustment disc.
Signed Gabriel Smith, Chester.
Dial with Arabic numerals. Mineral Glass. Original hands.
Equipped with an old key for charging and one for adjustment.
The watch consists of two cases in excellent condition: Beautiful outer case with embossed processing.
Case containing the movement in .925 sterling silver hallmarked and dated 1758.
Small internal card certifying an old revision.
Diameter 50mm, thickness 28mm.
Splendid example of watchmaking with more than 260 years of history...
