Christopher Makos is an American photographer born in 1948. If he was born in Massachusetts , he grew up in California before leaving for New York once high school was completed. He then flew to France and studied architecture in Paris. On site, he will be Man Ray's assistant, but this parenthesis only lasts for a while. Back in New York he took up photography, but this activity was expensive at the time. Christopher Makos must therefore sell them to be able to continue making them. Rolling Stone Magazine will be its first client. In the 1970s, he met Andy Warhol and frequented the Warhol Factory. The latter still knows very little about photography, but he is attracted by the fact that it is faster than painting. Christopher Makos will then accompany him in his first steps as a photographer. For his part, he will further develop his style, a mix between art and photojournalism with a more graphic touch. It is also through the artist that Andy Warhol will come into contact with Basquiat and Keith Harring, two decisive encounters in his career.
