Important donkey piece by Gustave Bayol around 1900 with its original polychromy. Ref: "L'art Forain" by Fabienne and François Marchal, Carousel animals page 68. Traction on the reins causes the nod of the head thanks to a counterweight fixed in the extension of the neck. This is a large donkey since it measures approximately 1m50 in length and 1m34 in height. The polychromy is extraordinary! very very beautiful original patina!
