Edmond Tetard : Antique French Sterling Silver Coffee Pot - Putti Lions + 1388 Grams

Exceptional and uniquely styled Solid Silver Coffee Pot raised on four claw feet with spreading foliate mounts. This outstanding coffee pot is embellished with an extraordinary and rich decoration of Mascarons in panels of scrolling foliage on a stippled ground, and scenes of Putti playing with Garlands of Flowers or Musical Instruments in a rural setting,  Both handle and spout feature a strikingly deailed Lion's Head with open mouth, and the spout terminates with a figural Dog's Head. Tthe domed lid presents a finial surmounted by a medallion of a charming young lady. Why, even the underside of the pot is decorated with an applied architectural foliate "ceiling rose".....

Meticulously hand crafted from the highest quality silver, it is punched with the Minerve 1st standard (.950) hallmark on body and lid, and maker's mark for prestigious 19th century Parisian goldsmith Edmond TETARD, active in 1889. This imposing high-end coffee pot with extraordinary decor is in excellent condition, moreover it has been revised and cleaned by our Parisian goldsmith, just light signs of use to note. Edmond Tétard succeeded Emile Hugo in 1880, and won the Gold Medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 for his oustanding creations.
