Extremely rare pair of fireplace lights in gilded and patinated bronze in their very good original condition, from the Empire period.Superb gilt bronze sconces: masks of deities and two panthers drinking from a fountain with basin. Model with antique vase and top ball.
Claude Galle delivered fifteen pairs of these lights in 1806 to the Palace of Fontainebleau. The inventory of 1807 counts five still present in the palace:
- in the living room of the prince's apartment n°1 of the pavilion of the golden door
- The second living room and the bedroom of Madame Mère.
- Living room of the apartment of the Princess of Guastalla (n°10 of the court of the princes).
- The bedroom of the King of Holland.
The Mobilier national keeps a pair, inventory number GML 8371-000
