This vase draws directly upon the grand Baroque productions created under the reign of Augustus the Strong. The intertwined “AR” monogram pays tribute to the prestigious eighteenth-century pieces associated with the royal court, while its decoration is enhanced here by a remarkably fresh botanical composition and a sculpted floral finial of convincing naturalistic effect. The Deutsche Blumen style, developed at Meissen in the eighteenth century, was inspired by botanical motifs while allowing for a more decorative and stylised interpretation of flowers.art-salon
