Large Pinnule Graphometer With Compass By Canivet At Paris, 1768.
Large pinnule graphometer, Louis XV period, made in Paris in 1768 by Canivet, received Parisian master foundry in 1743. Openwork and foliated draftsman's table. Freehand engraved wind rose compass. The north is designated by a fleur-de-lys. Bears the mark Canivet à la Sphére (sic), in Paris, 1768. Good original condition. Some marks of use. Original glass and needle. With its leather-wrapped wooden case in fair condition, but complete.
