London 1799, Hannah Northcote, Georgian Teapot On Stand ,sterling Silver, George III
Extremely rare Georgian teapot on its original stand in sterling silver. Both were made by a lady goldsmith, Hannah Northcote (1761-1831), née Coley, goldsmith's daughter, goldsmith's wife and then goldsmith's widow. After the death of her husband in 1798, she obtains the right to take over his workshop and manufactures hundreds of fine quality goldsmithery in her own name. This teapot still has its original stand hallmarked with the same master silversmith's hallmark and the same guarantee hallmarks of the City of London for the year 1799. Both are nicely engraved with a very typical engraving for the Georgian era. The set weighs 685 grams and is in perfect condition.
