"Canephore Servants"
Pair of large canephore servants in gilded and polychromed wood, representing two baroque characters in costume of imperator. The sculpture is very detailed and the polychromy harmonious. They are depicted on round emblazoned plinths. Since the Baroque period this type of sculpture adorned the great palatial decorations, decorative art at the time of Napoleon III could not ignore them as they bring relief, movement, vigor to the place where they are placed. Let us add that this pair of statues is in a rare state of good preservation and that their colors have lost none of their original freshness.
