Son of Pierre-Émile Cornillier (1827-1905), deputy mayor of Nantes, and Marie-Joséphine Leroux. He is the uncle of the writer Mireille Havet. He married Anna Lyon, of American nationality, on March 20, 1901 in Paris, in the sixth arrondissement. Pupil of Luc-Olivier Merson, he exhibited for the first time at the Salon of 1885 and sent his works to the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts until the start of the First World War His studio was at 21 rue Guénégaud in the sixth arrondissement of Paris.
