Alf Krogh-Holt (1919–1997) was a Norwegian/French painter who lived in Paris from 1962. Although he lived most of his life in Paris, he often returned to his hometown of Tvedestrand.
Krogh-Holt initially planned to become an architect but changed his mind and applied to the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts (1941-1946). There he studied under Axel Revold and Jean Heiberg. In 1947, he went to Paris for the first time, and in 1951, he received a scholarship from the French government and became a student of the painting professor André Lhote. He received a moderate education in Cubism, while also being inspired by Impressionism and Paul Cézanne.
During his artistic career, he exhibited regularly at the Oslo Gallery of Modern Art. Krogh Holt participated in the Oslo Autumn Exhibition from 1946 to 1951, as well as in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Norway and France. In 1989, he achieved one of his greatest artistic recognitions with his solo exhibition at the Galerie ARTMEL on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. One of his paintings sold there for 153,000 Swiss francs. He also exhibited with Picasso and was a regular at the Salon d'Automne in Paris.
His works are included in the collections of the National Gallery and the Norwegian department of the Lycée Corneille in Rouen. During the summer of 2013, a major commemorative exhibition dedicated to the work of Alf Krogh Holt was held at the Tvedestrand Museum in Norway.
