"Leon Fauche : "sancho""
Léon Fauché (1868-1950): “Sancho”, brown and gray Indian ink wash drawing 64 X 50 cm, mounted without glass in a simple, slightly worn stick 66 X 52 cm. Signature scraped top left, circa 1920. I love being right. When I saw this drawing with a virtuoso technique representing Sancho Panza, the faithful companion of the Knight with the sad face, Don Quixote de la Mancha, immortal hero of the famous novel by Cervantes, I say that it reminded me of the works of Léon Fauché, artist of which I had had small formats a few years ago and indeed, while doing some research, I came across this model whose name was written in the same typography as that of another illustration! I don't understand why the signature was scraped off, perhaps to pass it off as a Manet? Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
