"Le Chien Du Régiment - René Péan"
Variant of the poster "The dog of the regiment" by René Péan which included the phrase "Opéra-Comique in 4 acts". This version of the poster was created to promote a performance of the comic opera "La fille du régiment" by Gaetano Donizetti at the Opéra-Comique in Paris in 1915. The addition of this sentence to the poster was intended to provide additional information about the content of the performance, while still featuring the image of the little white dog wearing a military helmet to evoke the French war effort and encourage the purchase of war bonds. This variation of the poster is also considered an example of the use of propaganda art to promote cultural events during wartime, while using patriotic symbols to build commitment in times of conflict.
