"Pair Of Renaissance Style Round Plates By Gien Earthenware Factory & Sèvres Imperial Factory"
Rare pair of Gien earthenware biscuit dishes enamelled at the Imperial Manufacture of Sèvres, the decoration of each identical dish, alternating blue enamel and white biscuit depicting a wild boar hunting scene, the center of the dish decorated with a medallion with a head of Gorgon. At the bottom a monogram “EF. ".
Bear old labels mentioning “enamelled Gien biscuit at the manuf(actu)re imp(aria)le de Sèvres”.
Circa 1860.
Minor restorations.

Provenance
- Charles Geoffroy (1793-1871), one of the first directors of the Manufacture de Gien from 1831 to 1860. - His son-in-law Gustave Charles Gondouin (1823-1895), director of the Manufacture de Gien at the end of the 19th century. - His daughter Jeanne Gondouin (1851-1942). - Her husband Gabriel Langlois de Rubercy (1845-1926), director of the Manufacture de Gien at the beginning of the 20th century. - His son Guy Langlois de Rubercy (1879-1954), director of the Manufacture de Gien in the 1930s. - Then by descent.
