Large and important clock in gilded bronze from the mid-nineteenth century. Dial with Roman numerals. Very high quality of carving and gilding. It is surmounted by a sculpture in the round representing Bernard le Boyer de Fontenelle (1657-1757. French writer, playwright, academician and scientist). Feet decorated with masks. Wire movement. The movement and the chime work perfectly well. The lower parts (right and left) of the clock were not gilded.
