Ramsden Electrostatic Machine

Rare Ramsden electric machine. This type of electrostatic machine was invented in 1776 by the Englishman Jesse Ramsden. It is capable of producing an electric discharge by rubbing a moving glass plate. The mechanical power generated by the rotation of the plate is thus converted into electrical power. The electricity produced is under high voltage but very low intensity. The model we present is large in size. Around 1840. Beautiful workmanship.
