Object description :

"Alexandre Nozal : "the Fort Of Socoa In Ciboure""
Alexandre Nozal (1852-1929) : "Le fort de Socoa" Oil on canvas 55 X 68 cm mounted in a contemporary stepped mahogany tinted wooden frame 67 X 81 cm. Signed, dated 1926 and dedicated to Madame Suzy... If for most of us, Nozal is an emblematic painter of Brittany, more particularly of Saint-Briac of which he was one of the artistic champions, we must not forget that, Parisian From birth, he was a great traveler, surveying France in the sandstone of his encounters and his visits to the family. From La Brenne with his Master Evariste Vital-Luminais who was the subject of his first shipment to the Salon, to the Pyrenees where his sister ended up living and which he visited to the Basque Country of which he left several views like of our painting where the mastery of the artist lets us hear the surf with the spurting of foam and the cries of the seagulls in a little represented view of this emblematic site of the Basque Coast. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone. In partnership with Galerie Lafouresse, we specialize in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Bassin d'Arcachon.
