"IN THE NAME OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC."

"THE PROVISIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, ESTABLISHED UNDER THE LAW OF AUGUST 15, 1792, the fourth year of freedom, declared that under both the law of the preceding July 18, which created three new divisions of national gendarmerie , to form former Gardes-Françaises and other soldiers of the center, than that of September 3, 1792 which, by confirming the appointments that these divisions made of their officers, decreed that their organization would be in all assimilated and in conformity with that of the other divisions of the Gendarmerie of Paris, and on seeing the minutes of appointment and statements of composition of the eight companies of the 33rd division of the national gendarmerie, forming one of the said three new divisions, in one of which statements of composition is included the citizen François Bernard appointed, in accordance with the law, to occupy a place of Gendarme this citizen has been provided, by this commission, with the status and employment of Gendarme having rank in the said capacity in s the camps and armies, to exercise by him, under the authority of the citizen Louvel Colonel and that of the Lieutenants Colonels, Captains, Lieutenants, Marshals of the quarters and Brigadiers, and in accordance with the law, the functions attributed to this state. Mandates and orders, the provisional executive council, to citizen Louvel colonel of the 33rd division of the gendarmerie, to take and receive from the said citizen François Bernard the oath prescribed by law, and to put him and have him put in possession of the said state of Gendarme and to make it recognized, heard and obeyed, in this quality, of all and as it will belong. Given at Paris on the ninth day of the month of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety-three, the fourth year of liberty and the first of the French republic.
