"Marius Roux Renard (1870-1936) Peasant Interior At The Fireplace"
The pretty light of the crackling fire in the fireplace, the suspended cauldron, all animated by a cat lapping up its meal, a fine testimony to a bygone era and all the soul of rural Provence by the great artist of the school of 'Avignon Marius Roux Fox. The critics were enthusiastic in 1906, when he exhibited his paintings Semaine en Provence and Puits soleil at the Salon des Indépendants. In the summer of 1908, he stayed in the alpine village of La Morte, in Isère. He will paint some canvases representing the inhabitants and the local landscapes. He also frequents the Salons of Avignon, Marseille and Nimes. In 1904, he created the ceiling for the Caisse d'Epargne de Carpentras and decorated the offices of the Société du Canal de Provence in the same city in 1905.
