Object description :

"Pair Of Louis 16 Gilt Wood Consoles 18th"
Nice pair of Louis 16 period carved and gilded wood console tables with "Estours green" marble top (marble from the Pyrenees), probably Northern Italy or Rome, late 18th century, Circa 1780-1800. Beautiful original gilding with usual restorations. The rear aprons, worm-eated, were processed and consolidated by reinforcements sixty years ago. Although the high quality of carving and gilding in three techniques are more of a French tradition - the construction and use of wood such as pine and lime are closer to the Italian productions. Piedmont was full of talented artisans for customers who found themselves via Savoy at the time of the French Revolution, and then settled in the region of Turin.
High rank quality pieces of furniture.
