The crocodile is a sacred animal. It is supposed to house the souls of ancestors. It is also associated with the water cycle: Indeed it reappears from its lair after having spent long months in hibernation as soon as the monsoon rains arrive. Note the magnificent work of the blacksmiths who cast this piece in bronze using the lost wax technique. Very nice patina of use. In good condition. Length 32 cm, width 28 cm.
