Oil on canvas, representing a vigil in a family probably of gypsies, with Cubist forms. The lines are clean, the colors contrasting and powerful in a beautiful thickness of paste. Signed lower left: M.Bilbeaud. Maurice Bilbeaud is a post-impressionist painter born in Sète in 1919, died in 1997 in Nice. Painter of nudes, animated landscapes, still life, marine. After the war, he drew for the newspaper Midi Libre. He frequented the studio of François Desnoyer, based in Sète. In 1973, he won the Unesco prize in Monaco. In 1975, he was admitted to the Salon of painters who witnessed their time in Paris where from 1975 to 1978, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne.
