Born in Draveil, Essonne, Françoise d'Origny grew up at the Château de Villiers. She showed an early aptitude for painting and made it her profession. She devoted the majority of her work to portraiture and received the Eugène Carrière Prize in 1965. In the 1970s, she and her husband, Professor Jean-Claude Simon, created a meeting place and forum for exchange between researchers and scientists from around the world at the Château de Bonas, Gers.
