Augustine of Hippo or Saint Augustine (November 13, 354 – August 28, 430) was a Roman Christian philosopher and theologian who served as Bishop of Hippo in Numidia. Along with Ambrose of Milan, Jerome of Stridon and Gregory the Great, he is one of the 4 Fathers of the Western Church and one of the thirty-six doctors of Church.
