En 1542, il re\u00e7oit une commande prestigieuse\u00a0: un premier pavement pour le ch\u00e2teau d&rsquo;\u00c9couen, demeure du conn\u00e9table Anne de Montmorency, proche de Fran\u00e7ois Ier.\u00a0Trois ans plus tard, son atelier produit plus de 4000 pi\u00e8ces de forme pour l\u2019apothicaire rouennais Pierre Dubosc. En 1557, il livre \u00e0 Claude d\u2019Urf\u00e9, gouverneur du dauphin et des enfants de France, les pavements de sa chapelle situ\u00e9e dans la Loire. Les similitudes entre ses \u0153uvres et celles produites \u00e0 Anvers seront mises en lumi\u00e8re pour tenter de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la question, non encore \u00e9lucid\u00e9e, de sa formation\u00a0: anversoise ou italienne\u00a0? directe ou au contact d\u2019artistes \u00e9trangers install\u00e9s en France\u00a0? Les pavements livr\u00e9s par Mass\u00e9ot pour le ch\u00e2teau d&rsquo;\u00c9couen seront mis \u00e0 l\u2019honneur tout comme ceux de la B\u00e2tie d\u2019Urf\u00e9. Un rassemblement sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent de pi\u00e8ces d\u2019apothicairerie t\u00e9moignera de l\u2019importance de la production issue de son atelier. Les emprunts constants au r\u00e9pertoire d\u00e9coratif contemporain (Jacques Androuet du Cerceau, Sebastiano Serlio, etc.) ancrent ces \u0153uvres dans le milieu du XVI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n<p>Pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 une commande d\u2019un certain Pierre Dubosc, l\u2019atelier de Mass\u00e9ot Abaquesne produit en 1544 plus de 4 000 pots d\u2019apothicairerie, chevrettes et albarelli, dont environ 70 exemplaires seraient conserv\u00e9s. C\u2019est l\u2019occasion pour le fa\u00efencier de d\u00e9velopper tout un r\u00e9pertoire de portraits de fantaisie et de motifs v\u00e9g\u00e9taux inspir\u00e9s des mod\u00e8les anversois. Dans cet atelier se singularise par ailleurs Laurent Abaquesne, fils de Mass\u00e9ot, dont quelques pi\u00e8ces sign\u00e9es par lui seront pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5179\"
