A well-known painter, Jan Havickszoon Steen was one of the founders of the famous Guild of Saint Luke, a guild of artists and craftsmen active in Flanders and the Netherlands during the Baroque period.
It is therefore likely that the author of the painting in question was trained in the circle of Jan Steen, taking over from the master not only the characteristic features of the style (in the realization of the figures, in the choice of the chromatic palette) but also the propensity for a subject that sees as protagonists figures of the people, servants, workers.

In the painting, the figure in the foreground stands out, a woman determined to serve food to other figures around her. In the upper part are two ceramic vases with a white background and blue decorations, typical of the Delft factory. In good general condition.
