Rectangular walnut base with concave corners, six small alabaster legs and a Biedermeier style brass floral vignette. A portico construction with a pair of alabaster columns and a three-section mirrored back plate supports the clock in a walnut and ebonized case which is surmounted by a neoclassical alabaster vase. On either side of the clock case is a smaller baluster vase. Enamel dial with Roman numerals and iron hands. Pendulum with sun motif in gilded bronze. As the Biedermeier clock was intended to be placed in a library, it lacks a chime, which would have been considered rather inconvenient. In working condition.
