French School From The Early 19th Century, Follower Of Van Dael - Bouquet Of Flowers

French School of the early 19th century, bouquet of natural flowers presented in a rich cut crystal vase from Le Creusot, placed on an entablature. Oil on panel around 1830, presented in a beautiful Louis XVI style frame gilded with gold leaf and dating from the 1880s. The painting bears a Van Daels signature at the bottom right. Beautiful painting of flowers, very scrupulous work by a follower of Van Daels, or directly from his studio given the quality and care given to this work. The bouquet seems really raised and gives the illusion of being able to be touched. The transparent effect of the vase is also very successful. Nice amateur piece. Jan-Frans van Dael, known as Jean-François Van Dael, (born in 1764 in Antwerp and died in 1840 in Paris), was a Flemish still life painter. Specializing in still lifes of flower vases and fruit baskets, he enjoyed wide public and institutional recognition during his lifetime. Two of his works were acquired by Empress Joséphine and a third by Empress Marie-Louise under the patronage of the prince. Van Dael gives painting lessons for women in his Paris studio at no. 14 Impasse des Feuillantines. His pupils were Jean Benner-Fries, Élise Bruyère, Laurent Coste, Viscountess Iphigénie Decaux-Milet-Moreau, Henriëtte Geertruida Knip, Élisa-Émilie Le Mire, Auguste Piquet de Brienne, Christiaan van Pol, Adèle Riché and Jean Ulrich Tournier3. Our painting is in excellent original condition, oil on panel well preserved and without repainting. The frame is also superb: it was made especially for this painting and they have been together for almost 140 years. Painting and frame cleaned by our restorers.
