Custos in the shape of a paten in gilded silver with chiseled decoration of a floral cross on a guilloché ground. Silver 800/1000, punch Work around 1900, by Josef Brems-Varain famous German Master Goldsmith of the 19th century. He exhibited in Chicago in 1888 and in 1903 received the papal order of Gregorius. Many sacred works are known from the work of Josef Brems-Varain. The chapter of the cathedral of Trier ordered several neo-Gothic reliquaries….
