Early work of this talented painter from the Crozant school, member of the Salon des Artistes Français since 1894. His style evolved considerably afterwards through contact with artists such as Armand Guillaumin and Eugène Alluaud, who led him towards impressionism.
The painting presented here is more reminiscent of a work done in North Africa, perhaps at the entrance to the Toudra (or Todgha) valley...
To note: old restorations visible on the back, and one somewhat visible on the front, on the lower right part above the signature.
