Hoën Alfred-Georges Hoën is a French painter born in 1869 in Bar-le-Duc. After learning the art of stained glass from Champigneulle, he came to Paris in 1890 to take Gérôme's lessons at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français of which he was a member in 1910. In 1918, he left to live in the United States and returned definitively to France in 1940. Social portraitist, he also painted landscapes, seascapes and scenes from the two world wars
