India - Maharashtra or Karnataka, 18th century.
Head of Bhairava, wrathful emanation of Shiva, whose wide open mouth reveals sharp teeth.
Ferrous metal.

This type of mask was placed on a stick and worn during religious processions to repel evil spirits. It is therefore hollow and open at the back of the skull.
