A label is stuck on the back with this text: Louis Xlll at Madame de La Fayette original painting by Louis Tocqué given to alexandre Dumas on March 18, 1842 by king Guillaume lll of Holland acquired by the house Serraton Crétin Perny on August 31, 1871 alexandre collection Dumas We also find a collection number and a partially destroyed wax seal representing a merry-go-round accompanied by the word RIPA. Alexandre Dumas father, a great art collector, had also received from Guillaume lll, 3 watercolors out of the 3 musketeers (inventory after death). The attribution of the painting to Louis Tocqué is inaccurate. Very good condition, original canvas. Not framed.
