Box Box Russian Lacquered Wood Lukutin Characters Table Landscape XIXth

Russian lacquered wooden box or box, decorated with a countryside scene with characters, men and women sitting at a table drinking and dining, in the background a landscape, signature of the Lukutin workshop * with double-headed eagle, d 'XIXth century. This box is in good condition. It is signed by the Lukutin workshop (signature with the double-headed eagle). The closure is no longer blocked. A note: some tiny accidents, scratches, traces of cracks and wear of time, look at the photos. * Lukutin: In 1818, control of the Korobov workshop passed to Piotr Lukutin (Korobov's stepson), who expanded production to include tea boxes, album covers, desk accessories, and multiple boxes uses. Artists began to paint intricate decorative designs on the boxes, and these veritable small paintings became ostentatious symbols of status in aristocracy and the wealthy Russian merchant class. The demand for lacquered items explodes. Just five years after Lukutin took over the workshop, he employed more than fifty qualified painters, and a school inside the factory trained apprentices. Pyotr Lukutin began exhibiting his products in 1828 at industrial fairs and craft in Russia and Europe, winning great success with the public and numerous awards. It was that same year that Lukutin received the highest honor, a royal edict, allowing him to use the imperial emblem (double-headed eagle and his initials) as the company's trademark. Alexander Lukutin joined his father as director of the factory in 1841, and together they translated a simple trade into an authentic art form thanks to the innovation which he demonstrated in the decorations and techniques. The Lukutin workshop closed its doors definitively in 1904 and some of its artists were transferred to the Vishnyakov workshop.
