Everything in this little oil on paper of this portraitist of genius is close to perfection, we find the colors of the Flemish artists, the expressiveness of the faces and the virtuosity of the composition.Joseph van Severdonck (1819–1905) was a Belgian artist. He specialized in historical and genre paintings, and studied under Wappers. Critical reception of his works was mixed.
