Harold Ambellan (1912-2006) Female nude, enamelled terracotta, H 21cm, signed, marble base. Harold Ambellan is an American sculptor, in 1954 he moved to France and remained there all his life. After living several years in Montparnasse, Ambellan decided to settle in Antibes. In 1980, he moved to Arles. In France, he continues his exploration of the human figure, through his sculptures and drawings. He exhibited throughout Europe (retrospectives in 1976 at the Baden Museum of Solingen in Germany and in 2001 at the Espace Van Gogh in Arles), he created a collection of medals for the Monnaie de Paris, and a sculpture monumental and several small pieces for the Nathan Cummings collection. Numerous exhibitions have been devoted to him in the United States and in Europe.
