Object description :

"Bronze Sculpture Taurus After C. Fratin"
SPLENDID TRIOMPHANT BULB BRONZE AFTER FRATIN. Christophe Fratin, born in Metz January 1, 1801 and died at Raincy August 17, 1864, is a French animal sculptor. Brown and golden patina proof ca. 1850 sun: terrace 37x18 cm Ht 41 cm Provenance: private collection The absence of signature is very frequent on the works of this artist following the numerous public sales organized between 1849 & 1864 without reproduction rights to compensate for its recurrent financial difficulties . It is therefore preferable that the bronze be anonymous and contemporary of the artist rather than posthumous to the dubious signature.
