Louis XVI mirror in carved and gilded, burnished and amati linden wood. Rectangular in shape, this mirror is made up of a main mirror set with ice-creams fixed on a paneled maritime pine frame. All ice creams and mirror are original and mercury. Sideways decorated with two large linear curly braces with quadrilateral Greek windings, adorned with garlands of rose petals, sunflower buds or other acanthus and topped with casseroles; horizontally united by reserves centered with a leafy floret. The pediment receives in the middle part a vase covered in the Greek style set with flower garlands. The horizontally low base receives a wicker basket overflowing with daisy, peony and other foliage; the whole resting on two small feet of leafy florets. The main ice as well as the ice creams consist of a flat glass plate lined with tin and lead immersed in a mercury bath in order to dissolve them there. The tin associated with the lead then giving this warm and luminous side to the mirror called "mercury". Note the delicacy, finesse and nervousness of execution of this mirror halfway between so-called Greek and neoclassical styles, from the Louis XVI period around 1780-1785. Observation: This mirror is in a fabulous state of conservation totally from the period. A simple cleaning of the golden woods was practiced according to the rules of the art. Dimensions: height 120.8 - width 71cm. General conditions of sale and delivery: The price indicated on the advertisement includes delivery throughout mainland France.
