Object description :

"A Louis XV Chest Of Drawers Stamped Laurent-charles Birclet 18th-century."
Chest of drawers known as the Regency, Louis XV period, in rosewood and rosewood veneer on an oak and resinous frame with oak fonçure. Curved on all its visible faces, its uprights are pinched. It should be noted a small, very specific feature of our chest of drawers, the curved and counter-curved movement on each side does not die in the traditional way by marrying the flat rear upright as usual, but continues by optimizing the visual. beyond the amounts. Our dresser opens with three long drawers with exposed support rails. Its decor is embellished with a beautiful ornamentation of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes, such as pull handles, keyholes, without forgetting falls, lamp base, leafy clogs and rockery key. The whole is topped with a sheet of royal red marble from Hautmont, also called red Louis XIV. This name comes from the particular affection that the great monarch had for this marble, which is as harmonious as it is decorative. Louis XIV red is of all the Belgian marbles that which has been most frequently used in the decoration of our monuments; it is found in the palaces of Versailles, the Louvre, as well as the Palais-Royal among others. Balance, elegance, sobriety and quality are the most appropriate terms for this chest of drawers from the first decades of the reign of Louis XV. It is worth noting the great care given to the linking elements of irreproachable quality. Laurent Charles Birclet's stamp is stamped on the left rear upright, under the marble. Dimensions (on marble): Length: 112.3cm – Depth: 57.6cm – Height: 84.8cm. This piece of furniture has been the subject of a perfect restoration such as stabilization of the raised veneer, finishing with varnish with a buffer and cleaning of the bronzes. Laurent Charles Birclet, known as "Bircklé the Younger", was the younger brother of Jacques Bircklé. He had his studio rue de Charenton. In his youth he trained in the studio of Pierre Migeon.
