Biedermeier secretary with the Empire period coat of arms in burr walnut. Early 19th century. Origin Hungary. It is made of burl walnut veneer for the exterior and lemon and cherry veneer for the interior. Detached columns on the facade. Front feet in lion's paws. The flap reveals a theater composed of a marquetry niche furnished with four columns simulating a patio, a series of seven drawers, two other niches and a door with secret opening. This door is decorated with a drawing of two women in the antique style and with the Hungarian coat of arms (A patriarchal cross in a medallion surmounted by the crown of St Stephen). The latter opens onto four drawers, two of which conceal a fifth drawer at the back. The lower part opens with two doors on three drawers. Numerous bronzes decorated with lion's muzzle, palm trees, female profiles ... Three original locks with three keys. An annotation from the owner to be deciphered, dated 1819.
