This magnificent painting shows the portrait of a young woman wearing a hat with a fan. On the fashionably dressed woman's hat are cherry blossoms? while the fan (possibly Japanese) has a modest, modern design. The Belgian painter skilfully depicted the color contrasts and beautifully highlighted the mood of the moment. The woman's hazy face appears to be pensive. Signed: 'A. Pinot 1910', pastel on paper, post-impressionism. Frame: 106 x 76 cm, in frame 91 x 61 cm. Very good state of preservation. Contemporary setting. Albert Pinot (1875 Sint-Gillis near Brussels - 1962 Brussels) was a Belgian post-impressionist painter, watercolourist and draftsman. His father was French and his mother Belgian. A pupil of the neo-classicist Joseph Stallaert at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels from 1890 to 1899, he was often in Ostend and also painted on the Seine and the Oise. From 1919, he had a studio in Paris, but settled permanently in Brussels in 1934. He traveled extensively in Europe (Denmark, Norway, France) and also in Turkey. In 1893, he became a founding member of the artistic association Le Sillon. In 1944, he became president of the Brussels artistic circle Société Royale Belge des Aquarellistes. He virtuously painted portraits, interiors, seascapes and still lifes in a post-Impressionist style. His works can be found today in many museums in Belgium, including the Musée van Elsene and the Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van België in Brussels. Form and cost of delivery to be agreed.
