"Nikola Kozucharov (bulgarian, 1892 - 1971) Portrait Study III"
One of three portrait studies of Bulgarian peasants was executed by famous Bulgarian painter Nikola Atanasov Kozhuharov (1892 Kazanluk - 1971 Sofia). 
Studied painting at the Art Industrial School in Sofia in the class of Prof. Ivan Mrkvichka and Prof. Ceno Todorov before 1914. Next year he studied art at the Art Academy in Paris in the class of Prof. Fernan Kormon. Since 1924 he is a lecturer and since 1929 Professor for painting at the Art Academy in Sofia. Since 1911, he exhibited in Sofia, Prague, Vienna, Rome and Berlin. Between 1963 and 1967 he is a Chairman at the high Institute in Veliko Turnovo. Kozhuharov is regarded as the finest example of the Bulgarian Symbolism. He was famous for his battle and historical scenes as well as for his portraits. He decorated the Theaters in Stara Zagora and Sofia.

Technique: oil on canvas, on the corners laid down on card board. Original period frame.
