"Petronella Van Woensel (1785-1839). Bouquet Of Flowers On An Entablature."
Petronelle Van Woensel was born on May 14, 1785 in Raalte and died in 1839 in The Hague. Her training was with the painters Georgius Jacobus, Johannes van Os and Jan Van Os, with whom she became the faithful friend of her daughter Maria Margarretha van Os. The ease of his family allows him to practice his profession freely. She is a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. His clientele appreciates his talent for floral compositions which become his specialty. The painting that is offered to you is painted on canvas and signed lower left on the entablature. Petronella Van Woensel by her fine observation, the delicacy of her touch, the harmony and the vivacity of the colors knew how to make her bouquets very real, ours is the perfect example. The artist has composed this magnificent, high-contrast bouquet by placing the white flowers in the center, which catch our eye, then we discover the varieties of roses, tulips, peonies and the fragility of the gold botons and forget-me-nots. . The light background of the painting is painted with many small touches in shades of gray, this very modern style for the time is to be compared to that of Franz Hals who surely influenced it....
