Late 19th century neoclassical mantel clock in gilt bronze with malachite. The central clock features a remarkable sculptural gilt bronze mount, depicting two female figures, dressed in classical Greek drapery and holding a vine. One figure stands in contrapposto, looking to his right, while the other kneels on the ground and looks to his left. The sculpture sits on a malachite base, which forms the clock case. The circular central dial features gilt bronze hour markers and is flanked by further gilt bronze mounts in the form of foliate detailing. The malachite clock case is supported by gilt bronze top feet, very common at that time. The clock is in excellent and perfect working condition. In addition, it has been cleaned and maintained by a professional watchmaker specializing in museum maintenance. The eight-day movement. It rings every half hour and hour on its bell. The clock is delivered complete with its pendulum, its key and its bell.
